Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: January 1, 2026

Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before accessing or using the ScreenDetect website (the "Site") or our web-based screen detecting suite (the "Service" or "Tool"), which provides tools for identifying screen issues such as dead pixels, pixel testing, backlight bleed detection, non-binding repair guidance, and a stuck pixel fixer feature. For the purposes of these Terms, “we,” “our,” “ScreenDetect,” “the website,” and “the tool” refer to ScreenDetect, a service operated by ScreenDetect LLC, located at 123 Tech Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA.

By accessing or using the Site or Service, you ("you" or "User") accept and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Site or Service. You represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. Use of the Service is entirely at your own risk, and we provide no guarantees of accuracy, reliability, suitability, or results.

We may update these Terms at any time by posting the revised version on the Site. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Site or Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

  • By creating an account, uploading content, or otherwise using the Service, you affirmatively accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy (incorporated herein by reference).
  • These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and ScreenDetect. No oral modifications are permitted.
  • We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferable license to access and use the Service solely for your personal or internal professional purposes, in accordance with these Terms.
  • This license does not include any rights to: (i) modify, copy, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service; (ii) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service; (iii) rent, lease, sell, or commercially exploit the Service; or (iv) remove any proprietary notices.
  • You agree not to: (i) interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers/networks connected to it; (ii) violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights; (iii) upload viruses, malware, or harmful code; (iv) impersonate any person or entity; (v) harvest or scrape data without permission; (vi) use the Service for unauthorized testing of third-party hardware; or (vii) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
  • Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate termination of your access and potential legal action.
  • Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which governs the collection, use, storage, and disclosure of your personal data and User Content (as defined below). By using the Service, you consent to our data practices as described therein, including compliance with applicable laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and 2026 state privacy laws (e.g., Indiana and Montana).
  • The Service includes a "Stuck Pixel Fixer" tool designed to attempt repair of stuck (but not dead) pixels through rapid color cycling. This feature is experimental, informational, and provided solely for user convenience.
  • Success is not guaranteed: Some users report successful results; however, outcomes vary widely and the tool cannot fix dead pixels (permanent electrical failures) or other hardware defects.
  • Use of this feature is entirely at your own risk, and you must read and comply with the Critical Safety Warning in Section 3 before activation.

Please read this entire warning before proceeding. This tool poses risks to certain individuals, including potential health hazards from visual stimuli. By using the Stuck Pixel Fixer, you acknowledge these risks and assume full responsibility.

This tool uses rapid color cycling at 60Hz (60 flashes per second). This frequency can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy or other seizure disorders.

DO NOT USE the Stuck Pixel Fixer if you:

  • Have epilepsy or photosensitive epilepsy
  • Have a history of seizures
  • Have family members with epilepsy
  • Experience dizziness, nausea, or disorientation from flashing lights
  • Are sensitive to visual stimuli or strobe lights
  • Are under 18 years old (without parent/guardian supervision)

To minimize risks, you must follow these precautions strictly:

  • Distance: Sit at least 6 feet (2 meters) away from the screen
  • Lighting: Use in a well-lit room (never in darkness)
  • Viewing: Cover one eye or look away periodically
  • Brightness: Lower screen brightness if comfortable (note: the tool runs at full brightness by default for effectiveness)
  • Duration: Take breaks every 10-15 minutes; avoid sessions longer than 8 hours to prevent display strain or battery consumption
  • Supervision: Have someone nearby who can assist if needed

If you experience ANY discomfort, dizziness, nausea, unusual sensations, or symptoms of seizure:

  • Press the ESC key immediately to stop the repair
  • Click the red "Emergency Stop" button on the interface
  • Look away from the screen and close your eyes
  • Seek medical attention if symptoms persist
  • No Guarantees: Results are not guaranteed; the tool may not repair all stuck pixels and could potentially strain your display over extended use.
  • Hardware Risks: Prolonged use may void manufacturer warranties or cause minor wear on the screen.
  • Not Medical Advice: This is not a substitute for professional medical evaluation. If you have health concerns, consult a physician before use. You acknowledge that you have been advised to consult a qualified physician before exposure to flashing or rapidly changing visual stimuli if you have any medical concerns.
  • Waiver of Liability: By activating this feature, you expressly waive any claims against us related to health effects, hardware damage, or unsuccessful repairs. We disclaim all liability for any adverse outcomes.

If you do not agree to this warning or cannot comply, do not use the Stuck Pixel Fixer.

  • Certain features require you to create an account ("Account") by providing accurate, current, and complete information.
  • You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Account credentials and for all activities occurring under your Account. You must notify us immediately at hello@screendetect.com of any unauthorized use.
  • You agree to provide truthful information during registration and to update it promptly if it changes. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate Accounts for false information.
  • All rights, title, and interest in the Service, including software, algorithms, content, trademarks, logos, and AI models (collectively, "ScreenDetect IP"), are and remain our exclusive property. Nothing in these Terms transfers any rights to you except the limited license in Section 2(a).
  • "User Content" means any data, images, videos, diagnostics inputs, or other materials you upload, submit, or generate via the Service (e.g., screen photos for pixel analysis).
  • You retain ownership of your User Content but grant us and our affiliates a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully paid-up, non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, perform, and analyze your User Content solely to provide, maintain, and improve the Service (e.g., training AI models for better detection).
  • You represent and warrant that your User Content: (i) does not infringe any third-party rights; (ii) is not unlawful, defamatory, or harmful; and (iii) complies with all applicable laws. You are solely responsible for obtaining necessary consents for any personal data in your User Content.
  • Any suggestions, feedback, or ideas you provide regarding the Service ("Feedback") are voluntary and non-confidential. You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable license to use and incorporate Feedback into the Service without compensation or attribution.
  • Data Analysis and Insights: Our AI algorithms analyze uploaded screen data to detect patterns, anomalies, dead pixels, backlight bleed, and other issues that may not be immediately visible.
  • Content Personalization: AI customizes troubleshooting guidance and reports based on your device specifications and input data for more relevant recommendations.
  • Content Generation and Enhancement: AI generates diagnostic reports, repair guides, and visualizations efficiently, supplemented by human review for accuracy.
  • Automated Updates: AI enables real-time updates to detection techniques, ensuring the Service adapts to new hardware standards.
  • Commitment to Quality: All AI outputs are validated by our team where feasible, but you acknowledge AI limitations (e.g., potential inaccuracies due to input quality).
  • Transparency: We disclose AI usage in relevant outputs. For details on AI decision-making, contact hello@screendetect.com.

  • Notwithstanding this commitment, the Service is provided "as is," and we disclaim liability for any accessibility issues.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service or Account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to violations of these Terms, suspected fraud, or legal requirements.
  • Upon termination: (i) your license ends immediately; (ii) you must cease all use; and (iii) we may delete your Account and User Content after 30 days (or sooner if required by law). Under the EU Data Act (effective 2025), upon request within 30 days of termination, we will provide your User Content in a portable format (e.g., JSON/CSV) at no cost, subject to identity verification.
  • You may terminate by deleting your Account via the Site settings. Sections surviving termination include 5 (IP), 9 (Disclaimers), 10 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Indemnification), and 14 (Miscellaneous).
  • AS-IS PROVISION: The Service, including all AI features, diagnostics, guidance, and the Stuck Pixel Fixer, is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR AVAILABILITY.
  • We do not guarantee: (i) the accuracy of detection results (e.g., pixel counts or bleed assessments may be estimates affected by user inputs like lighting); (ii) compatibility with all devices/browsers; (iii) uninterrupted or error-free operation; or (iv) that the Service will meet your needs or repair any issues.
  • Not Professional Repair Advice: The Service is for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional, medical, legal, or repair advice. Diagnostics and guides are algorithmic suggestions; you must consult qualified professionals for actual repairs. We disclaim any liability for decisions or actions based on Service outputs. You acknowledge that you have been advised to consult a qualified physician before exposure to flashing or rapidly changing visual stimuli if you have any medical concerns.
  • Third-party links, resources, or integrations are not endorsed by us. Accessing them is at your sole risk.

  • Our total aggregate liability for all claims shall not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the total fees you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • These limitations apply to all claims, whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise, and do not apply to liability arising from gross negligence, willful misconduct, or breaches of confidentiality, to the extent such limitations are prohibited by applicable law.
