Cracked display, drop or pressure
A cracked display, hard impact, bent frame or pressure event can be associated with inaccurate touch input even when the screen still shows an image. A visible picture does not prove that touch input is healthy, and the symptom alone does not identify a failed component. A drop without a visible crack, an older crack followed by delayed symptoms and a symptom that starts immediately after impact are different histories, so document the timing instead of treating them as the same diagnosis.
Remove case or protector pressure if safe, then compare the behavior without pressing or flexing the device. Cracked screen protector versus cracked display
A cracked or lifting protector is not the same problem as a cracked display beneath it. A protector can create contact, edge pressure or trapped moisture that interferes with touch, but removing it does not prove that the display is undamaged. Inspect the surface carefully and do not keep using a protector with sharp or loose glass.
If the protector is safe to remove, remove the case and protector, clean and dry the glass, then compare the symptom again. If the unwanted input stops, the protector or its fit was a plausible contributor. If it continues, the display, device condition or another variable still needs attention.

Charging-only ghost touch
If ghost touch appears only while the device is charging, do not treat that pattern as proof of display failure. Disconnect the cable and compare the device unplugged. If the behavior changes, compare a different cable, charger and outlet one at a time. If it continues unplugged, charging may have been a trigger rather than the whole explanation.
Ghost touch after screen replacement
When ghost touch begins immediately after a screen or display replacement on an Android phone, iPhone or tablet, you usually need to contact the repair provider rather than work through a long list of generic fixes. If the phone is safe and controllable, record when the symptom began, whether it happens while unplugged, whether it appears with the case and protector removed, and what the screen does while untouched. Take a short video if that can be done without exposing passcodes or private information. Then return to the repair provider and ask them to evaluate the symptom under the same conditions.

Can ghost touch go away or be fixed?
